A SALUTE TO ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE CANDY CLARK

Candy Clark is well known for her role as Debbie Dunham in the 1973 hit film “American Graffiti” a role which garnered her an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actress, a role which she reprised in 1979 for the sequel “More American Graffiti”.

Following her success in “Graffiti” she appeared in many films including: "The Man Who Fell to Earth" (1976), which included a famous scene where Clark's character lifted and carried an ailing alien played by David Bowie" and the 1978 remake of "The Big Sleep" with Robert Mitchum. She followed with appearances in the action thriller "Blue Thunder" (1983) opposite Roy Scheider, Stephen King’s "Cat's Eye" (1985) with Drew Barrymore and James Woods, and "At Close Range" (1986) opposite Sean Penn, Christopher Walken, and Kiefer Sutherland. Ms. Clark’s extensive television appearances include the made-for-TV movies "Amateur Night at the Dixie Bar and Grill" and "Rodeo Girl." She also appeared on several series including "Father Dowling Mysteries”, "Magnum, P.I." and "Matlock."

The Independence Film Fest presents a special evening program with Ms. Clark as part of the Opening Night Festivities at The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center on Friday, Sept. 26th at 8:30pm.
