COLORADO MOUNTAIN HISTORY & FOLKLORE: A PRESENTATION BY DAVID SHOWALTER
Award-winning Colorado videographer and historian David Showalter leads an in-depth look at the unique and rugged terrain of the Colorado Rockies and its colorful history with excerpts from his extensive video series. An engaging speaker, Mr. Showalter will discuss his filming experiences in such diverse locations as Mosquito Pass (the highest traversable roadway in North America), and the Hagerman and Alpine Tunnels. He will present exclusive footage of the first narrow gauge railroad through the Rocky Mountains, along with a glimpse into the history of Marble – Town, Mill & Quarry – from the first block of marble being hauled by horses, to the big cranes, and finally the 800 rail cars used to transport the columns of the Lincoln Memorial to Washington D.C.
